As a Quality Supervisor for Incoming at Caterpillar, you will provide support for quality initiatives in facility incoming/receiving quality, supplier quality, and materials technology. You will ensure conformity to global quality processes defined in the Caterpillar Quality Management System (CQMS), day-to-day management of quality resources, and ensure resources are trained and competent.
As Quality Supervisor (Incoming), you will:
- Accountable for conformity to incoming quality processes and reporting to management on QMS (Quality Management System) process execution.
- Setting priorities, establishing review schedules for product and equipment quality control, and managing shop floor quality controllers.
- Inspection policies and procedures and supervises the activities of bargaining unit personnel.
- Responsible for overseeing the execution of processes, plans and tools that support global quality systems or related processes i.e., Cost of Poor Quality, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Plan for Every Part), quality certifications, CQMS (Caterpillar Quality Management System, CAV (Customer Acceptance Validation), etc. You must also ensure alignment to CPS (Caterpillar Production System) principles.
- Organize checking, repair of measurement devices. Conduct initial testing, selection, training and assessment of quality controllers.
- Supervises or manages a work unit of employees where planning, scheduling, training, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required, and is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
- Good proficiency in English.
- College or university degree in Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in engineering/manufacturing or a similar role.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer software packages and basic measurement devices is also necessary.
- Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationships with others inside and outside the department.
- Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- The job requires extensive active movement throughout the plant including but not limited to climbing stairs and steps, lifting of devices and pushing and pulling of equipment.
