PT. Belengkong Mineral Resources (BMR) was founded in June 2007 as a private-owned company that works in operations and support, construction, product processing and transportation related to mining activities. Since its foundation, BMR aimed to be a reputable, nationwide mining company.In 2008, BMR pursued a coal mining opportunity in Paser, East Kalimantan. Kalimantan accounts for more than 90% of the country coal production. East Kalimantan was the largest producer among the provinces, which produced 127 million ton in 2009. In addition, Kalimantan has a strategic location because it is close to fast emerging markets in Asia, notably China and India, making it competitive to other suppliers such as Australia.
BMR started Paser site exploration in 2008, and then started mining operations in 2009. From 2009 to March 2012, the Company has already added over 40 heavy equipment units for this Paser project. Within the period, BMR has moved over 7 million Bank Cubic Meter (BCM) of overburden (OB) and mined 534,000 ton coal.
